Historical notes
In 1795, Henry left his birthplace (St. James Parish) and eventually reached Paincourtville. In 1797, he received a land grant, a place called "Highland," from Spanish authorities. He later renamed it Armelise Plantation, after his youngest daughter. Landry died on August 10, 1856, when a hurricane destroyed the luxury resort Trade Wind Hotel on Last Island off the Louisiana coast.
