  • George Hays also owned a plantation in Mississippi.
  • Hays's Mount was bequeathed to Ann Hays while the remainder of the Hays estate was bequethed to the children. Ann Hays challenged this provision of the Will via a lawsuit and acquired a larger share of the Hays estate (including a plantation and 43 enslaved persons).
