William Lovett Balfour was born March 25, 1802 in Edgecombe Co., NC. , later moved to Feliciana Parish, LA and then to Madison County, MS where he died May 8, 1857.

 

As per the will and codicil of William Lovett Balfour, filed in Madison County, MS in April 1857 (Cause #733), this plantation was to be created from lands already owned by Balfour. Slaves from this Woodside Plantation in Yazoo County and also Homestead Plantation in Madison County were to be moved there as also per the will.
