About Me

I have been researching many families in the Warren, Granville, Halifax and Wake County areas for a number of years, many of them were Free People of Color, however, there are also a number of former slaves that I am researching. In that process, I have gathered quite a lot of research on the slaveholders of the area including records of their wills.

Plantations/ Workplaces I'm Researching

Montpelier Plantation, Sneed Plantation Granville Co.; Cherry Hill Plantation, Warren Co.; Myrtle Lawn Plantation, Warren Co.; Tusculum Plantation Warren Co.; Dalkeith Plantation, Warren Co.; Vine Hill Plantation, Franklin Co.; any in Warren and Granville Counties which I can find records on.

Montpelier Plantation, Granville NC - I am a descendant of the WILLIAMS family who first built plantation, Judge John Williams was the brother of my 5th Great Grandfather, William Williams; my family descends from William's SNEED, grandson, who was the slaveowner as well as the father of my SNEED Great Grandfather.

Sneed Plantation in Granville County, I am a descendant of the Stephen SNEED family, who was married to Mary Williams daughter of William Williams; their son Richard Sneed, owned the Plantation when my great-great-grandparents were born there.

My WILLIAMS family who were slaves in Warren County,NC, were former slaves of the ALSTONs and the WILLIAMS of that County. The owners of Cherry Hill & Myrtle Lawn Plantations were aunt and nephew to each other and the families frequented each home.

Hi Delores. Thanks for adding a personal page. To make dediting easier, make sure you are using the "classic editor". When in editing mode, you should see a grey bar at the top of the text field with just a few simple command buttons. To make a link to a wiki page (plantation page) insert the title of that page into brackets like this: [Joe Smith Plantation]. To make a link to another website, insert the full URL, a vertical line, and the name of the link in brackets like this: [http://www.fictionalurl.com|My Page]. I will add instructions on adding images today. Thanks for your hard work and patience.
